These pieces were created for the "Concentration" portion of the AP Studio class, for which we had to create 12 different pieces that were based on one central theme, but that could also stand alone as their own works. My central theme was Fear, and so I created works based on the different phobias that plague some people’s lives. STATEMENT: Fear torments us all, and is something everyone can relate to. Whether it’s shadows, mirrors, or the inevitable “END”, everyone is afraid of something (even if they won’t admit it). I strived to capture the essence of that particular fear and the subconscious thoughts that writhe their way into the brain whilst under the emotion’s influence. In every piece there are lines of text hidden in the environment that give subtle hints to the viewer as to what fear they are witnessing, and are meant to encourage a similar response. Even though the pieces are a little on the gruesome side, I hope you enjoy them and all the hard work that went into making them!
